ACT was honored to have special guests, Tim and Kathy Wise, and their family join us at Growing Hope. Tim contracted a life-threatening, fulminant C. difficile infection and would not have survived without microbiota transplants. Dr. Khoruts who treated Tim, stated that Tim was “arguably the toughest fulminant colitis case I’ve had in my career in over a decade.” Tim's wife Kathy shared, “I feel God sent Dr. Khoruts to us not only to save Tim, but to save me too… In total during this process, my husband was diagnosed with West Nile Disease, Encephalitis, Aspiration Pneumonia, C. difficile infection fulminant and very severe, inflammation of the colon, medical sepsis and profound shock. Tim is still recovering making small improvements and gaining back pieces of his independence, including recently starting driving again. One thing that will stick in my mind is Dr. Khoruts shared, ‘if only we would have seen him a week sooner’. If only someone would have told us. This is my testimony of Growing Hope.”

I was diagnosed and treated for cancer. As part of my treatment, I had lots of antibiotics....then C. diff. After the fecal microbial transplant, I improved! I could sleep again (after getting up to have constant diarrhea every 15-30 minutes during the course of C. diff). I am so grateful to Dr. Khoruts and his team for giving my life back to me!

After suffering from recurrent Diverticulitis attacks for seven years, I became very sick with recurrent C. difficile Infections. For a season, I could only eat rice, eggs and potato chips. Finally, I found Dr. Khoruts at the University of Minnesota and ultimately received a Fecal Microbiota Transplant. I now have no pain, no diverticulitis attacks, and can eat pretty much anything I want. Thank you!

Amanda is one of the strongest most energizing people you will ever meet. She battled C. difficile for months and is a living testimony of the power of FMT. She even changed career courses given her experiences.

Debra has battled Crohn's disease for years and suffered from horrific cases of C. difficile. She researched and learned about FMT, and eventually used the treatment which helped tremendously. She has a beautiful story and is living life to the fullest today!

Scott Hansen, comedian, shares his struggle with C. difficile which he contracted after taking antibiotics for an infection. After multiple rounds of antibiotics to treat the C. difficile, Scott was hospitalized and finally connected to Dr. Khoruts and the University of Minnesota. Scott met with Dr. Khoruts at the hospital and received two Intestinal Microbiota Transplants and was finally cured from C. difficile.
