When mission-based organizations seek to advance their causes, they turn to one person. Al Bill.

Over an extended professional career, Al has assisted a variety of non-profit, religious and educational institutions elevate their profiles, enhance their leadership, and accelerate their fund-raising activities. He has been an educator, an administrator, an adviser, and a coach—both on the athletic field and in the executive suite. He has also raised more than $75 million for organizations in his work.

Currently, Al is serving as an independent advancement consultant with Achieving Cures Together (ACT), as part of an “active” retirement. He brings his finely-honed skills in mission optimization to support ACT with leadership development, fundraising, and community relations.

“My involvement with ACT helps fulfill my personal quest to live and act with a focus on mission in all that I do, with a passion for truly making a difference, and with the vision to create the opportunities for those I represent that are yet to be realized.”

A native of Reedsburg, Wis., Al spent eight years as a member of the faculty and administrative team at the highly regarded Prairie School in Racine, Wis.; followed by a 12-year stint as a statewide administrator and executive director of the Wisconsin Independent Schools Athletic Association (WISAA); and 10 years as the vice president for advancement at Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria, Minn.

In addition to founding his self-directed advancement firm, Defining Possibilities, Al served as the executive vice president for The Advancement Group, a national Catholic school advancement consulting firm, and as an independent contractor for Partners in Mission, also a national advancement counseling firm. Prior to retiring in 2018, Al was the Twin Cities metro area regional advancement director for the Midwest Jesuit Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).

Associates and partners who have worked with Al express a deep appreciation for his “all-in” approach and active involvement in the life of any organization he represents.

Al and wife Sue live in the southwest Twin Cities metro community of Victoria, Minnesota in close proximity of their two daughters/husbands and four grandchildren.
