2023 Research Partner Update

Our partners at the University of Minnesota Microbiota Therapeutics Program supply microbiota transplant therapeutics to academic partners around the country, working to alleviate suffering and extend the quality of life of patients. “In our clinical trial there was a 60% efficacy response of reduced reactivity to peanut protein just from one Fecal Microbiota Transplant. It takes about 6 months of oral immunotherapy to reach that level of peanut tolerance.”

“We found that Microbiota Transplant Therapy induced significant engraftment in patients with Ulcerative Colitis, and also reduced partial Mayo scores [a scale to rate Ulcerative Colitis disease activity] without any antibiotic preconditioning.”

Autism
“We found that the treatment was very safe, actually safer than placebo, that the treatment group had fewer bad days of symptoms than the placebo group. We found it was very effective that 10 weeks of treatment led to a medium improvement in [Autism] symptoms, and an extra 8 weeks of treatment led to even more improvement in symptoms, and the GI symptoms improved substantially as well. We’re now working on planning to optimize dosing for that study for treatment in our next study.”
