With the ushering in of winter, it’s hard for many Minnesotans to find ways to stay active. This is only magnified during a pandemic. Additionally, weather is unpredictable and our daily sunlight is limited. With all of these factors in play, it’s easy to neglect exercise even though the mental and physical consequences can be drastic. Fear not. Here are some ways to stay active under these challenging circumstances.

The field of allergy has historically considered environmental changes to play a significant role in the development of allergic conditions. These changes can include lifestyle changes (increased time indoors, rise in obesity, poor diet), increased exposure to indoor allergens (improved conditions for dust mites and mold indoors), and changes in hygiene (clean water, eradication of parasites, increased antibiotics use). Today, growing evidence suggests the microbiome may play a role in shaping the immune system.
