Since 2016, ACT community members have taken strides at the Twin Cities Marathon to advocate for microbiome research and raise funds for its advancement. Amanda, an Ulcerative Colitis patient, University of Minnesota Microbiota Therapeutics Team researcher, and ACT runner shares her perspective: “I’ve really loved this whole experience from being a patient, being a researcher, and being a runner for ACT. Every single dollar, every single bit of help that anybody provides to ACT is truly changing lives and it’s really transforming and moving this field of microbiome research forward. It’s really exciting and I welcome everybody to be a part of that.”
With the ushering in of winter, it’s hard for many Minnesotans to find ways to stay active. This is only magnified during a pandemic. Additionally, weather is unpredictable and our daily sunlight is limited. With all of these factors in play, it’s easy to neglect exercise even though the mental and physical consequences can be drastic. Fear not.
